“My general attitude is to respect the culture and stay humble; everything is Grace,” says photographer, videographer, and photo-journalist Robert Adam Mayer. Perhaps better known around Hip-Hop’s inner-circle as “Photo Rob,” Mayer’s work has appeared in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Harvard Magazine, XXL, and People, among other publications. He has taken iconic shots of Hip-Hop stars JAY-Z, Nas, and Sean Price, as well as celebrity portraits of Bill Hader, Aisha Tyler, and Chrissy Teigen. From years of street photography throughout New York City, one of Rob’s pieces appears as a mural at the National 9/11 Museum. Mayer specializes in fine portraiture for both editorial and advertising. Over more than 20 years, Photo Rob has immersed himself in the world of his subjects, showcasing them with dignity and plenty of style. The man behind the lens considers this his responsibility, and that passion thrives across his work.

Throughout the journey, Robert Adam Mayer has documented subjects for magazines, newspapers, and digital. He has shot and directed an array of music videos, interview features, and corporate work. Rob has also created numerous pieces for respected artists and record labels, including Duck Down, Mello Music, and Fat Beats. For years, Photo Rob was the flagship photographer of the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, where his lens captured Kanye West, De La Soul, Q-Tip, and others.

Mayer is a graduate of Syracuse University with a B.A. in Photography. Rob and his wife, award-winning broadcast journalist Monica Morales, live with their two children in New York.
